In-Patient Care

The homely atmosphere of the In-patient Unit (IPU) has individual en-suite bedrooms should a patient require to:

  • be admitted for symptom management before being able to return home
  • be cared for to give their family/whānau up to a week’s respite or
  • be admitted for particularly complex symptom management during the end stage of their disease

There are no fixed visiting times, and family/whānau may be able to stay overnight. Patients who return home from the IPU receive continuing care from the Community Palliative Care Nursing Team (Hospice nursing staff) and the Allied Health Team.
