Medical Team

Hospice North Shore employs a team of hospice doctors as part of the Multidisciplinary Palliative Care Team. The doctors are fully qualified and have experience either in palliative care or are undergoing training in palliative care. They provide twenty four hour medical oversight of patient care in the In-Patient Unit (IPU), and community support and advice, as well as visiting the patients at home (usually when they are unable to attend the hospice for an out-patient appointment). The hospice doctors maintain close contact with General Practitioners (GPs), hospital staff and other health professionals to ensure as much continuity of medical care as possible.

Hospice doctors are also involved in palliative care education for health professionals and the general public. They supervise palliative medicine specialist training, and participate in research, while maintaining their own professional development.
