About our Education Department

The Education Department at Hospice North Shore not only helps health care professionals understand more about the work hospice does, but also gives them a range of skills for providing care for their patients at the end of life.

We pride ourselves on being specialists in educating, training and developing staff in a range of health and social care settings and have expertise in palliative care, bereavement, team building and communication skills.

We offer many training programmes both in house and in the community targeting all levels and areas such as:

• An annual programme on workshops
• Outreach programmes tailored to meet needs and taught in the workplace
• Training and development of our own staff and volunteers
• Higher Education and accredited palliative care courses
• Placements

The training we provide is focused around the following areas:

• End of Life Care/Palliative Care
• Communication Skills needed in End of Life care situations
• Syringe Driver Management
• Advance Care Planning
• Bereavement
