The Auckland Welsh Choir returned to Takapuna for it's annual celebration in tribute to St. David, the patron saint of Wales. The choir raised money for the Hospice North Shore by donating profits from the ticket sales. Read more.

Riro Marett, 80, says she has decided to grow old disgracefully.  The retired Girl Guide leader from Milford is preparing to go Hairless for Hospice this summer in support of Hospice North Shore.  "I'm not ashamed to run around with a bald head, especially seeing it is for a good causes," Mrs Marett says. read more

Given just two weeks to live in June this year. Chris Wykes says she will continue to hold out for a miracle.  It is hard to believe the Greenhithe woman has terminal cancer in almost every organ of her body.  But not one to dwell on her illness, Ms Wykes, 61, is planning a fundraising concert, Rock the Hithe, on November 25 to repay Hospice North Shore. read more

Baker Utilising Power of Flour - NSTA August 2912
Every Tuesday morning 83 year old Don Evans dusts off his baking sheet and makes a batch of warm scones for people in the community. 
Mr Evans says he was never much help in the kitchen but three months ago his "lovely" neighbour Claire Baldie gave him a lemonade scone recipe and he's been baking up a storm ever since. read more

A former nurse with almost two decades' experience at hospice has taken over the reins at the North Shore hub.  Jan Nichols has been appointed as Hospice North Shore's new Chief Executive and was welcomed with a powhiri attended by almost 100 people at the Takapuna centre. read more

Grateful for hospice help - NSTA 25 May 2012
This year North Shore Hospice expects to care for more than 550 terminally ill patients and their families.  Running on limited government funding, the non-profit organisation must raise around $3 million to break even.  For their annual appeal week North Shore Hospice set their target high hoping they could raise $100,000.  read more

Cushions ease the pain - NSTA 18 May 2012
One woman's hobby is touching the hearts of cancer sufferers around Auckland.  Gerti Weber has made more than 100 heart cushions to ease the pain of cancer patients, especially those recovering from breast cancer.  Among those benefiting are North Shore Hospice patients.  Ms Weber is a Whangaparaoa resident, has recruited 10 others from the Hibiscus Coast Embroiders. read more

A cuppa tea for Hospice - NSTA 11 May 2012
Sitting down for a cuppa and a slice of cake with friends is at the centre of hospice fundraising efforts this month.  The Hospice Cuppa campaign was launched at a lavish high tea on May 3.  Former All Black Alan Whetton spoke in support of the cause and singer Tina Cross entertained guests with an a cappella performance.  read more
