When volunteers join Hospice North Shore, we want them to feel comfortable and confident with their new place in the Hospice family. We introduce them to Hospice North Shore by sharing our vision, values and giving them a preview of some of the work we do each day. During this session they meet other volunteers and leaders of Hospice North Shore, such as our Chief Executive, Jan Nichols.

This in-house training is a requirement of volunteers who have contact with Hospice patients - all new volunteers register for this course when they apply to volunteer at Hospice North Shore.
These sessions are an opportunity for all volunteers and especially for those who have regular contact with patients and their families to meet on a regular basis and reflect on the work you do. The purpose of these sessions is to provide a forum where issues can be raised and discussed in a safe environment so people feel comfortable that they have the knowledge and skills needed for their volunteer role. The experiences of other volunteers can be shared so people can learn from the collective experiences as well as to ensure good service to the patients and their family.
