Your record-breaking fundraising
Despite the stormy weather in the second weekend of March, over 500 competitors turned out to take on the Colliers Coastal Challenge. Among them were 70 people 'Running for Hospice': made up of staff from Pak’nSave Wairau, Pak’nSave Albany and Hospice North Shore.
But thanks to a break in the weather competitors enjoyed a great day in their respective challenges along the 33km course from Arkles Bay to Devonport.
The ‘Running for Hospice’ teams put their bodies on the line to not only to take on their own coastal challenge, but also to raise money for Hospice North Shore. Months of training and fundraising funds were rewarded a record-breaking $44,000 of the total raised.

The winning Pak'NSave Wairau team
Congratulations to Pak’nSave Wairau, who took out the title of this year Coastal Charity Champions 2017. Their team raised $17,000 and their Wairau Stickmen were the first of the ‘Running for Hospice’ 33km relay teams to cross the finish line.
A huge thank you to all the 'Running for Hospice' teams for making such a positive difference to people in our community who need Hospice care.
Our grateful thanks to the North Shore Rotary clubs that played a vital role on the day: marshalling the event and donating their fee back to Hospice.
Every competitor in the Colliers Coastal Challenge also helped raise funds for Hospice with $1 from every registration being donated and Hospice North Shore volunteers were on hand at the finishing line with a busy barbecue fundraiser, to refuel all the competitors with a delicious burger.
Hospice North Shore is grateful to be the Charity Partner for this iconic North Shore event and we thank event organisers Total Sport for their ongoing support.
Do you think your team could take on the Hospice Hobblers to battle it out for the 2018 Coastal Charity Champions? Make a note in your diary for next year and start training!
