Nautical Nick's Nippley Dip

Nick Taylor was a past patient of Hospice North Shore and died in August of 2015. Soph and Al, two very good friends of Nick, wanted to remember his birthday by having a midwinter swim, or as they so aptly called it, Nautical Nick's Nippley Dip. Nick's parents Neal and Linda thought it was a wonderful idea and supported it wholeheartedly. Linda said "It was an opportunity to get friends and family together to remember Nick and acknowledge the amazing support we all received from Hospice". The family set up an everydayhero page and encouraged people to support either by participating in the event or sponsoring the ‘nippley dippers’. "It was a great day with lots of laughter and sharing memories. We were hoping to raise $500 for Hospice, but we talked to Hospice who suggested using everydayhero and we are delighted to have raised $1,342."

Murrays Bay School

As part of a school project a number of Murrays Bay School classrooms learned about the work of Hospice and the need for community support, they decided to hold a ‘Shorts for Hospice’ mufti day to celebrate ‘Giving Tuesday’ and raised over $400 for Hospice North Shore.

Trees of Remembrance

North Shore Farmers (Albany Mega, Albany Homestore, Glenfield and Takapuna) staff and customers raised $48,265 through the Trees of Remembrance campaign over the lead up to Christmas 2015.

Hospice staff were so impressed with the commitment from Farmers they created a video for Farmers staff to show their appreciation.

Farmers Head of Corporate Relations & Community, Nikki, saw the video and emailed to say "I am speechless! This ‘thank you’ is honestly the nicest thing I have ever seen from a charity. We know organisations are thankful, however the time and care you have taken to express what the funds go towards and how it helps is truly wonderful.”

Trees of Remembrance volunteers

Thank you to all our volunteers who gave up a couple of hours to man not only the Farmers Trees of Remembrance, but the Hospice Community sites at Pak’nSave Albany, Westfield Albany, Countdown Barry’s Point Road, Milford Mall and Birkenhead mall; helping to raise over $70,000.

Pick your own strawberries for Hospice
